Agricultural buildings blaze scaled down by crews
Iain RichardsonFirefighters are damping down a large fire near Bourne, Lincolnshire, which has been burning for two days.
Crews from Bourne, Metheringham and Long Sutton were still at the scene of the blaze at agricultural buildings in West Road, Pointon, earlier.
The call to the fire service was made at about 15:20 BST on Saturday. Residents were advised to keep their doors and windows closed.
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service said investigations into the cause of the incident would start when the scene was safe.
The service also confirmed six crews and an aerial ladder platform had been used at the peak of the blaze.
"This is a strong reminder of how quickly fires can start and spread under extremely dry conditions," the fire service spokesperson said.
"We continue to urge everyone to avoid lighting fires, like disposable BBQs or campfires, improperly disposing of cigarettes, and leaving litter behind.
"These are all avoidable causes of outdoor fires but remain among the most common causes."
