Yorkshire's Meadowhall and White Rose shopping centres will be lit yellow as part of a charity appeal by the region's air ambulance.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) is leading its Yellow Yorkshire campaign, encouraging the region to show support by embracing all things yellow.

The week-long event aims to raise awareness of the YAA charity's work, with dozens of organisations signing up to YAA events in July.

As part of the celebrations, pupils at Forest View School in Rawmarsh, South Yorkshire, are planning to decorate lemons.

In Thirsk, North Yorkshire, residents at Rowan Court's retirement housing are preparing their own yellow Yorkshire Olympics.

Among those supporting this year's campaign is Kelly Gorton from Burnley, Lancashire, whose family became connected to YAA following a serious motorcycle crash involving her partner near Ingleton in 2025.

"Yellow Yorkshire is such a simple way for people to get involved, and it's been amazing to see local schools and nurseries wanting to take part alongside us," Gorton said.

"My children have loved getting involved and we're looking forward to seeing as much yellow as possible throughout the week."
