Watch: Zoo welcomes new sea lions to enclosure
Two new California sea lions have been seen "settling in" to their surroundings, Colchester Zoo has said.
It follows the deaths of three other sea lions at the site this year, who had all reached an old age.
Kirsty Lawman said the previous trio were like an "extended family" for the 16 years she had been team leader, and losing them left "a big hole in our hearts".
New sea lion Sofia was previously at Rotterdam Zoo, then Welsh Mountain Zoo where her daughter Cali was born, before they both arrived in Essex a few weeks ago.
Lawman added: "They are a hugely popular species at the zoo, so having these girls back is amazing."
