Squirrels tackle Wimbledon challenge in Hitchin back garden

Sporty squirrels are being put through their paces on a Wimbledon-themed assault course ahead of the famous tennis tournament at the All England Club.

It was built by Steve Barley, 61, from Hitchin, Hertfordshire, who added a series of obstacles, including a tennis court, an umpire and even a bowl of tasty strawberries and cream.

One squirrel - nicknamed Fuerena Williams - has already successfully negotiated the course to reach a nut dispenser at the end.

Barley, a retired school teacher, has built courses for previous events including the World Cup, Olympics and to celebrate the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic.
