First wild beaver born in county for centuries
A wild beaver has been born in Staffordshire for the first time in more than 400 years.
Staffordshire Wildlife Trust said that it was a "groundbreaking moment" for nature as it showed the county had suitable habitats for beavers to thrive.
One of the beavers appeared to be lactating which indicated she was feeding young in her burrow, the trust added.
"This kit looks healthy and it's feeding without either of its parents present, which is another good sign. We'll continue to monitor this family as the kit grows," the trust's Nick Mott said.
