A weekend event aimed at boosting visitors to a town centre has been hailed by a council as a "huge success" after thousands attended.

Chorley Live saw 280 performances take place in 35 town centre venues on Saturday and Sunday.

Chorley Council said more than 10,000 visitors had enjoyed the mix of "local live music and entertainment".

Thanking those who attended, council leader Alistair Bradley said it had been a "great weekend".

"This event always proves a huge success and brings so much to the local economy," he said.

"I'd also like to thank all of the venues and acts who took part."
