Police say they received a report of a one-vehicle road traffic collision on the Castlecat Road shortly before 01:00 BST on Sunday.
A police line of inquiry is that the weapon may have been under the control of North Antrim UDA.
The men threated a woman with a crowbar and cable tied a man in his 60s.
