Man charged with attempted murder of his mother

A 49-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of his mother.

Kevin Mauger, of The Bridge, Vale, appeared at Guernsey's Magistrates' Court to confirm his name and address.

The prosecution said he attempted to choke his 83-year-old mother Janet Mauger with a pair of socks at her home on 13 June, leaving her with bruising on her body and a cut on her face which required more than 30 stitches.

Mauger was remanded in custody and is set to return to court on 5 August.
