Ashford Bridge, which runs over the River Teme in Shropshire, will be shut from 20 to 31 July

A Grade II-listed stone bridge in Shropshire will be closing for 11 days for maintenance work.

Ashford Bridge, which takes the C6250 over the River Teme near Ashford Carbonell, will be shut from 20 to 31 July, Shropshire Council confirmed.

The work on the bridge, which was built in 1797, will involve removing vegetation, repairing cracks, re-pointing the open joints on the parapets, masonry repairs to the displaced parts of the arch and an inspection.

Traffic would be diverted via the A49 and Sheet Road, the council said, but access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists would be maintained.
