Gorse fire extinguished in Guernsey
Guernsey Fire and Rescue ServiceFirefighters tackled a gorse fire overnight on the the headland of Guernsey.
Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service reported the fire at La Corbière at about 19:00 BST on Sunday asking people to stay away from the area.
Three mainline jets were used by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus to safely combat the fire and protect the surrounding area.
The service said crews left the scene at about 02:00 on Monday and the cliff path had fully re-opened to the public.
Guernsey Fire and Rescue ServiceThe fire service said crews worked in windy conditions and had to ask people to avoid the area and keep access routes clear for emergency vehicles.
"Thank you to everyone involved in bringing the incident to a safe conclusion," the fire service said.
The blaze came two days after a major incident was declared in Sark due to a gorse fire which covered about 20,000 sq m (215,000 sq ft).
