Police not seeking anyone over tower block death
Henry Godfrey-Evans/BBCDetectives are no longer looking for suspects in connection with the death of a man who fell from a block of flats.
Essex Police described the man's fatal fall in Westcliff-on-Sea as "unexpected", but said they were "not looking for anyone else" regarding the incident.
It happened at the 15-storey Grampian tower in Balmoral Road, shortly after 06:00 BST on Friday.
"We continue to support the family of the man involved, who remains at the centre of this investigation," temporary Det Supt Alan Blakesley said.
It has not been confirmed which floor the man fell from. Police were initially alerted to a disturbance at the block of flats, followed by "significant concern" raised for a man outside the property. He died at the scene.
"This investigation remains ongoing and we are treating his death as unexpected, however we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident," an Essex Police spokesman said.
Henry Godfrey-EvansSteve Watkins, 48, who lives on the 14th floor, told the BBC he heard "a big scream and a crash of glass" at about 05:45.
Detectives have appealed for anyone with footage in the area between 00:00 and 07:00 to contact them.
Officers are expected to remain in the area for several days as their inquiries continue.
Blakesley added: "We appreciate these are challenging circumstances for all those affected, and I want to reassure everyone we're doing all we can to establish the details."
