Multiple crews sent to tackle waste fire

Almost 30 fire crews were called to a blaze that sent a huge plume of smoke into the sky above Barton in Fabis.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to a fire in the open in Barton Lane at 15:13 BST on Wednesday.

In an update on Thursday, the fire service confirmed the blaze was a "pile of rubbish that was well alight, and had started to spread".

A total of 27 crews, including assistance from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and specialist rescue vehicles, have visited the scene of the fire. Firefighters from three stations remain.
