M6 remains shut after lorry crashes and overturns
National HighwaysThe M6 remains closed in both directions after a lorry crashed into the central reservation barrier and overturned.
The closure was put in place between junction one near Rugby, Warwickshire, and the Catthorpe interchange in Leicestershire, after the crash shortly before 17:00 BST on Sunday, National Highways said.
A spokesperson said all emergency services, including the air ambulance, were at the scene and highways officers were assisting with traffic management.
On Monday, a National Highways said police investigation and recovery were still ongoing due to the extent of the damage and were still unable to reopen the road.
A spokesperson said officers were looking to relieve congestion by turning vehicles around from the rear of the queue and helping motorists leave the affected area as safely and efficiently as possible.
Diversion routes have been put in place for those travelling on the A14 westbound, the M1 northbound and the M6 southbound.
"If this incident impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time," National Highways said.
"Plan ahead and you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
