Walsall Council said it was a matter for West Midlands Police

A Reform UK councillor in Walsall has been arrested by West Midlands Police.

Councillor Carl Creaney said the arrest, at his home last month, followed a report of "harassment" and there was "nothing to hide", and he faced no sanctions as a result of the arrest from either Walsall Council or the Reform party

West Midlands Police has not confirmed the allegation made against the councillor, who was voted in as a ward member for New Invention in May's elections.

The council said the matter was for police and spokesperson for Reform said the party was aware of the arrest and that Creaney had not been charged.

Creaney said: "At the end of the day, it's a live investigation.

"I'm willing to let the police carry on with their investigation and they're going to uncover the bloody truth about certain people.

"They've just got to follow a complaint, that's it, and they can carry on because there's nothing to hide. With me, what you see is what you get."

The councillor was arrested on 23 June.

West Midlands Police has declined to comment.
