Man questioned over mum-of-two's 'unexplained' death

A man has been questioned on suspicion of manslaughter following the unexplained death of a "devoted" mother-of-two.

Hannah Fry became unwell after police were called to an address in Meadow Croft, Longridge, on 13 July and died in hospital later that day.

The death of the 29-year-old, described by her family as "bubbly" and "truly one of a kind", is being treated as "unexplained" by Lancashire Police.

The force said a 31-year-old man had initially been arrested on suspicion of coercive and controlling behaviour and then was further arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

The man has since been bailed while the investigation continues.

Police said a 23-year-old man was also arrested in relation to the offence that was reported on the day of Fry's death, which prompted the police to attend the address.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been made and it would be inappropriate to comment further about this at this time."

Fry's parents, Kevin and Sarah Harcup, paid tribute to "our beautiful and only daughter, the light of our lives and the love in our hearts and souls".

"She was a devoted mother to her two precious daughters, a cherished daughter, granddaughter, sister, and a loyal, loving friend to so many," they said.

"At just 29-years-old, Hannah's life was far too short.

"She was not only beautiful inside and out, but also funny, bubbly, witty, and full of life, with a fantastic personality."

They said Fry would be remembered for her "madcap sense of humour" as well as her "extraordinary capacity for love, kindness, compassion and loyalty".

Her parents added: "She will be forever missed, not only by our family but by the countless people whose lives she touched.

"Her middle name, Eidann, means Gift from God, and she truly was the greatest gift we could ever have received.

"Gone far too soon but loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

"Until we see you again, Hannah, we love you to the moon, the stars, and back."
