The roof of a derelict building has collapsed following a fire.

The blaze broke out on Privett Road, Gosport, on Wednesday at about 20:00 BST with flames seen spreading through the roof.

Drivers were urged to travel carefully in the area due to the amount of smoke affecting visibility, and people living nearby were told to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said the fire was now out and nobody was reported hurt. Crews remained at the building overnight to dampen down.

The fire service said due to the extent of the structural damage to the building, it had not been possible to determine the cause of the fire.
