A hundred 'co-living units' planned for former bank
Daniel DeFalcoBarclays Bank in Peterborough could be turned into more than 100 co-living units, according to plans.
An application submitted to Peterborough City Council proposes to extend and infill the building, on Church Street, allowing for 104 "high-quality co-living units" with shared facilities.
The ground floor and basement would be retained for commercial use, and the refurbished basement would offer cycle storage.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, documents prepared by Front Architecture showed the new bedsit-style co-living units would be "affordable housing for professional individuals" within the city centre.
"All residential units have access to communal facilities including kitchens, social spaces, library/reading areas and laundry benefits," Front added.
A cinema room and large communal areas were also part of the plans.
Barclays has submitted an application to take over the former Sports Direct store on nearby Long Causeway to open a new, larger branch in the city.
