Serving police officer charged with sexual assault

Devon and Cornwall Police said Supt Jim Saunders was currently suspended

A serving Devon and Cornwall Police officer has been charged with sexual assault by touching.

Temporary Supt Jim Saunders, 48 and from east Cornwall, is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The force said he had been charged with one count of sexual assault by touching.

It said he had been suspended.
