Family mourns girl with the 'biggest smile'

A family mourning the loss of a 15-year-old girl who died in a crash last week have said her "contagious laugh" and "biggest smile" will be missed forever.

Charlie Olivia Slack was a passenger in a Fiat 500 which was involved in a crash on Shincliffe Lane, to the east of Durham.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second passenger in the car was taken to University Hospital North Durham for treatment.

In a statement, Charlie's family said "Your beautiful face is everywhere we turn. Fifteen years is only a short lifetime in which to fulfil your dreams and conquer the world."

The crash happened at about 17:30 BST on Thursday 24 September near the village of Shincliffe and both drivers sustained minor injuries.

In their tribute, the family said: "We keep hoping you will just pop round the corner with one of your favourite sayings or your contagious laugh, singing and dancing, playing Fortnite, making us laugh with the biggest smile on your face.

"We can never fill the massive void you have left in our lives, but we take so much comfort in the precious memories you have left for us to treasure.

"We would like to thank everybody who cared for Charlie and for their efforts to save her life.

"Charlie will be loved forever."
