A community theatre which closed after its boss was jailed for sexual communications with a child is to reopen under new management.

Thornton Little Theatre will open in what was previously the Cre8iv Little Theatre in Thornton-Cleveleys, Blackpool.

Cre8iv Little Theatre boss Chris Higgins was jailed for 10 months at Lancaster Magistrates' Court earlier this year after admitting engaging in sexual communication with a child. A 10-year sexual harm prevention order was also imposed.

Wyre Council said the venue would reopen in July, with the new leaseholders planning an "ambitious programme of entertainment, theatre, community events and creative opportunities".

Claire and Ged Mills said they had already scheduled a range of events beginning next month.

She said they were looking forward to bringing the community theatre back into regular use.

Wyre Councillor Lynne Bowen said: "This is a positive step that will see a valued community venue brought back into use, creating opportunities for residents, performers and local groups."

A council spokesperson added: "The reopening marks a significant step forward for the theatre, which has long been valued by residents across Thornton-Cleveleys, Wyre and the wider Fylde Coast.

"The new team is aiming to reconnect the venue with audiences, performers and community groups, helping to re-establish Thornton Little Theatre as a key destination for arts, culture and entertainment.
