Murder arrest after man dies in 'stabbing'
BBCA murder investigation has been launched after a man died in a suspected stabbing, police have said.
Officers from Gloucestershire Police arrested a man aged in his 50s following an incident on Alney Terrace in Gloucester at about 21:00 BST on Thursday.
A man in his 80s was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with suspected stab wounds but died from his injuries a short time later.
Police chiefs confirmed there is no wider threat to the public and officers will be carrying out "proactive reassurance patrols".
Ch Supt Rebecca Love said: "We understand the concern this incident will have caused within the local community.
"Officers will be carrying out proactive reassurance patrols in the area today and continuing their house-to-house enquiries.
"We're asking anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area before or after the assault to contact us as soon as possible."
Police confirmed that the suspect remains in custody.
