Boy and man drawn out to sea rescued by bystanders
GoogleA boy and a man spotted in difficulty and drifting out to sea off a seaside resort on the Isle of Wight have been rescued by bystanders.
The pair were swimming off Ventnor on Wednesday afternoon when they started being drawn out to sea. Beachgoers alerted the coastguard, with Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and Sandown Independent Lifeboat sent to the beach.
The coastguard said one swimmer was pulled back to shore by bystanders using a life ring, while a kayaker rescued the second swimmer.
The coastguard said both swimmers were taken to hospital by ambulance for observation.
