Explosions warning as vehicles involved in scrapyard fire

About 40 firefighters have been tackling a scrapyard fire involving "a large number of vehicles".

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service was called to Thornwood, Epping, at about 07:23 BST and was joined by crews from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Nearby residents have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed because of gases from the fire.

The fire service said people should not be alarmed by explosions, which were expected because vehicles were involved, but were contained within the site.
