Polls have opened in Guernsey's first island wide by-election.

There are four polling stations, they are: Beau Sejour, St Martin's Parish Hall, Castle Douzaine Room and Vale Douzaine Room.

There are 11 candidates vying for one seat in the States. Polls will close at 20:00 BST.

Votes will be counted shortly after polls have closed, with a declaration expected late on Wednesday night or in the early hours of Thursday.

Some 27,570 people are registered to vote, up from 27,316 at the 2025 general election.

However, the States said it was difficult to know how many new voters there were as there had been removals and additions to the electoral roll since then.

The seat became vacant after disgraced former deputy Jonathan Le Tocq was jailed for nine years for creating more than 2,000 indecent images of children.
