Woman, 86, dies after being hit by car

An 86-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car, with police appealing for witnesses.

Surrey Police said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the A281 in Alfold, near Dunsfold, shortly before 17:15 BST on Wednesday.

The driver of a blue BMW involved in the crash was seriously injured and is being treated in hospital.

A force spokesperson says the road has reopened following the collision, after several hours of investigations.

"We are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident," it added.
