Stroke clinic plan is recommended for approval
CMIA Architecture/Hertsmere Borough CouncilPlanning officers are recommending that permission should be granted for a stroke rehabilitation clinic.
The clinic, which would be called Brian's House, would be built on Hillfield Lane in Aldenham, Hertfordshire, with Hertsmere Borough Council's planning committee due to make a final decision on the application on 16 July.
It would be privately funded, and would provide about 4,500 hours of therapy a year.
A council report said NHS provision for long-term stroke care was currently "limited", with the gap largely filled by charities and private providers.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the plans are supported by the UK Stroke Association and by South and West Herts Health and Care Partnership.
While council officers said the building would harm the Patchetts Green Conservation Area, they concluded that its "very significant" benefits would outweigh that harm.
