Annual arts festival set to return in October

An annual Surrey arts festival, featuring more than 100 events, is due to take place next month as it approaches its 30th anniversary.

Arts Alive will run from 1 to 31 October across Mole Valley district, including historical talks, walking tours, music, theatre performances and creative workshops, and will kick off with launch events in Leatherhead and Dorking at the end of September.

About 14,000 people attended last year's festival, according to the council.

The authority's leisure and community assets lead, Nick Wright, said it was "delighted" to continue investing in the arts and culture of the district.

"The festival is a tribute to all the talent we have in the district," he said.

Arts Alive was launched by the council in 1997 to bring the arts to the heart of the community and encourage more residents to get involved in local creative activities.
