Woman dies and another critical after car hits tree

A woman has been killed and another left in a life-threatening condition after their car hit a tree in Sellindge.

The crash, which involved a yellow Mini Cooper, happened on the A20 in Barrowhill shortly before 20:45 BST on Sunday, near the junction of Meadow Grove.

A 46-year-old woman, who had been a passenger, was declared dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

The driver, 44, was airlifted to hospital in London with critical injuries.

Officers from Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened, or the moments leading up to it, to contact the force.
