A council-run care home has been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

CQC inspectors found Lord Hardy Court in Rawmarsh to provide safe, responsive and well-led support for its residents.

The Rotherham Council-managed care home supports a maximum of 60 individuals, who are either older people or those living with learning disabilities.

Despite the good report, the CQC found "minor issues" with record keeping and storage of medicines.

Key highlights from the report included an effective care plan, with people's needs "regularly reviewed", alongside good access to healthcare and nutrition and a "people-centred" approach.

Rotherham councillor Joanna Baker-Rogers said: "As a council we are committed to enabling residents to live as well and as independently as possible for as long as possible.

"It's pleasing to see that the CQC has seen that during the inspection," she said.

Earlier this year, the council's adult social care service was also rated as Good by the CQC following a separate inspection.
