Crash leaves motorway shut in both directions

A stretch of the M4 in Berkshire has been closed both ways after a crash.

The motorway is closed between junction 8/9 for Maidenhead and junction 10 for Reading.

National Highways said a police investigation was under way and the motorway was expected to remain shut "throughout the morning peak period".

Diversions are in place, with traffic heading west diverted off the motorway at junction 8/9 and onto the A404M and heading east off at junction 10 to the A329M northbound. Drivers are being warned to allow extra time for their journey.
