The farm will have two padel courts in an adapted farm building

Two farm buildings are to be turned into a pilates and hot yoga studio along with two padel courts.

The site at Beacon Farm near Bainton in East Yorkshire would see a "modest lean-to extension" built on the side of the padel court for use as showers and changing rooms, the planning application said.

There would be no demolition of buildings and existing hardstanding in the farmyard would be used for parking.

The site would be accessed from the A614, near its roundabout with the B1248.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the planning application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council said there would be "no major extension, or substantive external alteration" to the two buildings.

It added that "no encroachment into open agricultural land is required."

Padel has been described by the Lawn Tennis Association as the "fastest growing sport in the world".

It is a mixture of tennis and squash and is played on a court which is 25% smaller than those used for tennis and has a wall around it, which can be used to play shots off.

A number of plans for padel courts have been submitted across East Yorkshire, including at Driffield Rugby Club and Norwood Recreation Park in Beverley.
