Seven puppies believed to be Staffordshire Bull Terriers have been found abandoned under a bush.

The tiny animals were handed in to The Hart Veterinary Centre on Sunday afternoon after they were discovered in Abingdon.

Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary says the puppies were "cold and needed immediate attention and food" when they arrived.

The sanctuary says the circumstances that led to them being abandoned are unknown and the police have not been informed.

The sanctuary, which admits and rehomes around 700 animals every year, says it has found a foster home for the puppies, who will be "well looked after" once they have been checked over at the vets.

Their breed is still not certain, but they are believed to be Staffordshire Bull Terriers, the sanctuary added.
