West Midlands Metro resumes after power failure

The whole West Midlands Metro line is down because of a major power issue, the operator said

West Midland Metro services have resumed across Birmingham, the Black Country and Wolverhampton after a "major power failure" caused them to be suspended for more than two hours.

The operator warned of "severe delays" as the network began operating again between Wolverhampton and Edgbaston.

Due to the power issues, the operator was previously unable to make announcements at stops or put details on its information boards.

Tickets and passes are still being accepted on National Express buses and West Midlands Trains, West Midlands Metro said.

The tram network runs across four zones between Edgbaston Village to Wolverhampton railway station and St George's.

A Metro spokesperson apologised to customers for the disruption and advised passengers to follow West Midlands Metro's social media accounts for further updates.
