Victim of cane corso dog attack sought by police

A woman who was attacked by two cane corsos while walking her dog in a park has been asked to come forward by the police.

Derbyshire Police said the incident, which involved two "large" brown cane corsos, took place in Newhall Park, Swadlincote, shortly after 08:00 BST on Friday.

Officers said the dogs "launched themselves aggressively" at an elderly woman, causing her to be knocked to the floor.

One of the animals then tried to attack the woman's dog, which she was holding on a lead.

Investigating officers said they have been unable to identify the woman, who was blonde, in her 70s, and was walking a blonde-coloured pug at the time of the attack.

"We would like her to come forward as we understand that this would have been a terrifying incident for her, and to identify whether she had received any injuries as a result of the incident," a force spokesperson said.

Officers believe they have identified the owner and address where the two cane corsos live, and have put immediate preventative measures in place while the investigation continues, the force added.
