The A14 is partially closed due to a fire in a field and woodland next to the carriageway.

Suffolk Fire Service has sent three fire engines and a water carrier to the incident on Old Norwich Road, in Ipswich, at about 10:37 BST and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

Firefighters have attempted to surround the blaze, which covers about two acres of grassland.

Suffolk Police has closed the eastbound carriageway at the Whitehouse Road junction while crews deal with the incident.

Crews from Princes Street and Ipswich East are on the scene, while firefighters from Needham Market and water carriers have also been deployed.

A fire service spokesperson said: "Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible and expect delays on the A14 while emergency services remain at the scene."
