Two soldiers have been arrested after cars were damaged by a tank being driven around a military base at night.

The Bulldog military vehicle was spotted on the road at Swinton Barracks on Perham Down in Wiltshire on 24 July at about 01:00 BST.

Footage shared by The Sun showed several badly dented cars. The 15-tonne Bulldog is more than 9ft (2.7m) wide and 17ft (5.2m) long, and can reach a speed of 32mph.

An Army spokesperson confirmed two soldiers had been arrested by the Royal Military Police and an investigation had been launched.

The video showed the military vehicle being driven around the barracks, which is part of the Tidworth Garrison and home of 26 Engineer Regiment.

The military vehicle was pictured in a parking bay afterwards.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Army said: "We expect the highest standards from our personnel.

"We will not comment further while an investigation is ongoing."
