Schoolboys remain in hospital after 'fireworks incident' near school
GoogleTwo teenage boys remain in hospital with injuries thought to have been caused by fireworks being used near a high school in Glasgow.
The boys, both pupils at Holyrood Secondary School in the city's southside, were taken to the Royal Hospital for Children after police were called at about 12:15 on Thursday.
A bomb squad attended the scene near the school on Dixon Avenue, removed a device thought to be a firework and are carrying out assessments.
Police said inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
A cordon that was in place around Dixon Avenue, Cathcart Road, Gartuke Street, Allison Street and Belleisle Street was removed on Friday evening.
Nearby businesses and homes were evacuated as a precaution.
A council spokesperson said: "We're aware of an incident that took place out with the school premises.
"As a result of the incident, two pupils were injured and have been taken to hospital for assessment.
"We are working with the appropriate authorities as inquiries continue."
