Water supplies restored to some homes after leak
BBCMore than 60 properties were left without mains water after a pipe burst in Grouville, according to Jersey Water.
The utility company said the pipe on La Grande Route des Sablons burst overnight and temporary traffic lights were in place whilst repairs were carried out.
It said water supplies to 50 properties had already been restored and teams were on site to repair the leak and restore water to the remaining properties as quickly and safely as possible.
Jersey Water apologised for the disruption and thanked customers for their patience.
Jersey Water's head of network Martin Skyba said the cause of the leak was likely to be due to the hot weather and extra demand putting strain on the network.
"The really dry ground conditions, the soil moisture dries up and the pipes tend to move ever so slightly and it causes cracks," he said.
"Thankfully we don't get too many in Jersey but we just need to make sure we work as quickly as possible to get the water back on for people."
He added: "Generally these things take a few hours to excavate and complete the repair.
"We tend to take three or four hours, but if people do need any water just have a chat with the guys on site or give us a call."
