Teens attack woman and try to pull off her hijab
GoogleTeenagers attacked a woman and tried to take off her hijab during an attempted robbery, police have said.
The victim was targeted at a skate park off School Street in Rugby, Warwickshire, shortly before 13:00 BST last Wednesday.
Warwickshire Police said three teenagers were understood to have tried to take her bag before they assaulted her and tried to pull off the garment - a head covering worn by some Muslim women.
Insp Kimberley Stafford said she recognised the concern this incident would cause and the impact it would have on the victim and wider community.
She said officers were supporting the woman and patrols had been increased in the Long Lawford area, including at the skate park.
"Rugby is a welcoming and diverse borough and we will not tolerate behaviour that targets someone because of their race or religion," she added.
