Sarah Whittaker said business ahead of the World Cup had been "phenomenal"

A business that provides big screens for events has described demand around the World Cup as "absolutely crazy".

Managing director Sarah Whittaker said 2026 was the "biggest year" for the company since Grand Technix began trading 40 years ago.

"It's been absolutely crazy - it's been probably one of our biggest years," she said. "We obviously do very well generally whenever the Euros and everything is on but this has just been phenomenal, it's been brilliant."

Whittaker said the Birmingham-based firm provided big screens to fan parks, pubs, football clubs, and more, as far as Edinburgh - although said that venue had only hired the screen for the first three group games.

"Compared to previous years, it's been crazy. It's literally just not stopped and even today we've had people inquiring for last minute opportunities," Whittaker, of Bromsgrove, said.

"We're still trying to make sure we can get the demand through where we can because obviously, it's a big opportunity for people to drive that revenue into their businesses.

"We want to try and see if we are fulfilling all of those business' dreams."

Asked why demand was so high in 2026, Whittaker said: "I don't know whether it's just the hype, the time of year. Maybe the country just needs it with the coming together of people."
