Police have appealed for information after allegations of a serious assault at a beach festival on Saturday night.

Officers said a man was taken to Jersey General Hospital after suffering an eye injury outside the dance tent during Havre des Pas Festival at Havre des Pas beach.

States of Jersey Police described a man they wanted to identify, saying he was a "broad white male", believed to be in his early to mid-20 and with short red hair in a buzz-cut style.

It was believed he was with a larger group of males at the time, officers said.

The force urged anyone who may have seen the incident, witnessed the events leading up to it, or who may have relevant footage or images to contact officers.
