New soft play to cost 30k after burst pipe at cafe
BBCWork to install a new soft play area costing about £30k is due to begin at Beau Sejour later this year, the States of Guernsey has said.
Officials said the facility would be installed following the completion of refurbishment works at the leisure centre's cafe, which started in February and is due to last up to six months.
The cafe area is being refurbished after damage caused by a burst water pipe, the States said.
It added the cafe had been temporarily moved to the soft play area while it worked on a "range of repairs" including removing and replacing wood flooring, the tiles below the seating area and the counter.
Head of recreation services, sport and recreation at the States, Sam Herridge, said: "The installation is expected to begin as soon as the cafe works are completed, once the space is no longer needed for the temporary cafe setup."
She added the renovation was being covered by insurance.
