Railway station gets World Cup rebrand
NorthernA railway station has undergone a patriotic rebranding ahead of England's World Cup semi-final game later.
Commuters pulling in at Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, will see new signage declaring: "It's Coming Holmes Chapel".
The playful rebrand by Northern Rail comes hours ahead of England's match against Argentina - the result of which will determine whether England secure a spot in Sunday's World Cup final.
Alex Hornby from Northern said: "We wanted to give our customers something to smile about on the way to wherever they're watching the game."
"Come on England," he said, adding: "It's coming Holmes Chapel."
The football song It's Coming Home was orginally penned for the Euro '96 competition, originally referring to the fact that when the song came out, England was hosting its first major tournament since the 1966 World Cup.
Now it is a reference of hope to England winning and bringing home the trophy to where, according to Fifa, football as we know it was invented in 1863.
NorthernThe station name will revert back to Holmes Chapel "once the football silverware has been won or lost, whichever comes first", Northern said.
