Man and woman deny poisoning and murder charges

A man and woman have denied murder and administering poison after the deaths of two men.

Madalin Dumitru and Adina Mihai, both 30, are accused of killing Gary Mouat, 37, from Banbury, Oxfordshire, and Malcolm King, 80, from Gloucestershire, in 2025 and 2024 respectively.

The pair entered not guilty pleas to a total of 19 charges during a hearing at Oxford Crown Court earlier.

They will go on trial at the same court on 3 June. It is expected to last between five and six weeks.

The charges faced by pair, from Birmingham, include:

  • Murder of the two men who died
  • Manslaughter as an alternative to the murder charge
  • Administering poison – namely Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL) - so as to inflict grievous bodily harm (GBH) on the men who died
  • Administering poison – namely GBL - with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy the men who died as an alternative to the GBH charge
  • Conspiracy to steal property from the men who died
  • Administering poison – namely GBL - so as to inflict GBH on three other surviving people in 2025
  • Administering poison – namely GBL - with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy the three surviving people as an alternative to the GBH charge
  • Conspiracy to steal property from the three surviving people

The three surviving people cannot be named due to reporting restrictions.
