Sixty new homes in village expected to be approved

Plans to build 60 homes in a village are expected to be approved by a council.

East Cambridgeshire District Council will decide on the proposed sixth phase of the Millstone Park development in Burwell, Cambridgeshire, at a meeting on Wednesday.

Planning officers at the authority have recommended the blueprints be approved subject to some conditions, such as affordable housing provision, being met.

Burwell Parish Council objected to the plans because of concerns over infrastructure and over-development at the site near Newmarket, Suffolk, the meeting agenda said.

None of the other organisations that were consulted, including the fire services, NHS, and local highways authority, had opposed the plans.

The site off Newmarket Road had been earmarked for about 350 new homes in the district council's Local Plan.

Those homes had already been "comfortably accommodated" on the allocated land, planning team leader Sophie Browne wrote in a report.

If approved, the number of properties on the estate would increase to 410.

The development is being overseen by This Land, a company owned by Cambridgeshire County Council.
