Ministers decide not to call in 94-home Stornoway development
Getty ImagesScottish ministers say they will not call in Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's decision to approve 94 semi-detached houses near Stornoway Airport in Lewis.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) has objected to the plans for an eight acre (3ha) site at Melbost due to flood risk.
But the comhairle gave planning consent, subject to conditions, for the development in April.
It is to be built in phases.
Sepa is a statutory consultee on planning applications and the proposals could have been called in by the Scottish government for further scrutiny because the agency's objections were not upheld by the comhairle.
