The M1 in Leicestershire has reopened after a lorry overturned on to the central reservation barrier.

At about 05:30 BST on Friday, National Highways said the motorway was shut in both directions between junction 24 at Kegworth and junction 23A for East Midlands Airport, later changing on the southbound side to affect junctions 23A and 23.

The lorry was recovered from the scene following a "complex" operation, which took place throughout the morning.

The highways agency said residual delays were still affecting the roads with an hour delay on the M1 southbound, 40 minutes on the northbound side and hour-long delays on the A42 northbound.
