Reduced rail timetable as heatwave continues
Getty ImagesEast Midlands Railway (EMR) will continue to run a reduced timetable this week citing the "ongoing impact" of the hot weather.
EMR said it would operate a temporary timetable on its Intercity services until Friday - with the scorching conditions continuing to affect the number of trains available.
The operator's Intercity service operates to and from London St Pancras, providing services to areas including Leicester, Nottingham, Lincoln, Derby and Sheffield.
Rail passengers are being asked to check their journeys before travelling due to "considered reductions to a small number of services", the operator added.
The reduced Intercity timetable was initially announced to be in place for Monday only.
EMR also stated that on Monday, Robin Hood Line services between Nottingham and Worksop and from Nottingham to Leicester would be suspended from 12:00 BST and Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich services through Nottingham would operate between Norwich and Sheffield only.
It said it was working with Network Rail to monitor conditions and return services to normal.
Philippa Cresswell, EMR customer experience director, said: "The continuing impact of the recent hot weather continues to affect the availability of some of our trains, with additional inspections and maintenance required before they can safely return to service.
"Our priority remains to keep as much of the railway running as possible while operating safely. By continuing these temporary changes to a small number of services, we can better protect the wider timetable and provide greater resilience across the network."
