Global disco icon Sister Sledge is headlining Bristol Pride, when tens of thousands of people will come together celebrate to celebrate the city's LGBTQ+ community.

A parade, afterparty and hundreds of performers will head to Clifton Downs on 11 July for the 17th annual event - one of the largest Pride festivals in the UK.

Organisers said the event brings people together to overcome prejudice, hatred, and reduce isolation.

Events will be held throughout the city between 27 June and 12 July. Here is everything you need to know to make the most of the celebrations.

Is there a launch party?

The official launch party will take place at Wake The Tiger on 19 June, offering immersive art, live music and performance.

The line-up includes LYNKS, known for blending electro-pop, punk energy and sharp-witted social commentary.

How do I see the parade?

About 40,000 people are expected to take part in a parade through the city centre, before the music begins on the Downs.

The Pride march is open to anyone who wants to celebrate and is a walking parade, with vehicles and floats forbidden.

The parade will begin at 11:00 BST in Castle Park by St Peter's Church, with participants invited to gather from 10:30.

The route is about 2 miles (3.2km) long and takes just under one hour to complete, ending at the Harbourside, where there will be shuttle buses waiting to take people to the festival.
