24-hour prescription collection service opens
Shropshire CouncilA 24-hour prescription collection point has been launched in Ludlow, so medication can be collected around the clock, seven days a week.
Installed by Lunts Pharmacy, the new facility allows patients to securely collect their prescriptions at any time of the day or night.
MSN Pharmacy Group, an independent community pharmacy group, is behind the scheme, which is believed to be the first of its kind within a community setting in Shropshire.
Ravi Nagra, founder and co-CEO of MSN Pharmacy Group, said: "We are extremely grateful for the support provided through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Shropshire Council, which helped make this project possible."
John InghamShe added: " The introduction of this 24/7 collection point gives patients greater flexibility and convenience, allowing them to collect their medication when it suits them rather than being restricted by traditional opening hours."
Shropshire Council said the scheme was financed through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund's Small Equipment Grant scheme for businesses, which enabled MSN Pharmacy Group to invest in the specialist equipment needed for the project.
It is hoped that it will help people with caring responsibilities, those working irregular hours, or residents in rural locations unable to access pharmacies within standard working hours to access prescription medication.
Councillor Alex Wagner, deputy leader of Shropshire Council, said they were "not only strengthening local services but also improving accessibility for residents, particularly in our rural areas".
The Ludlow installation is being delivered as a pilot scheme, with the potential for a wider rollout across the pharmacy group's network if it is successful.
